Germs. Our great anxiety should not be altogether concerning germs from within or without; but also poisons manufactured within our bodies, due to a deficiency of the immunizing elements, called vitamins and minerals. Germs don’t “look us up”; we invite them by our careless manner of living. A very interesting record is found in the Pentateuch where it is recorded that God prescribed for man, before he sinned, a diet of fruits, grains, and nuts, and later, after sin entered, herbs were added. Genesis 1:29; 3:18. So let us remember that herbs are good for sinners and eat plenty of them.
Balanced diet. With Forever Bee Pollen counts going up as the times change, get longer, and nice climate is bestowed upon us, if we do not have our allergy symptoms under control, we are doomed. A breakfast of any whole grain product with cream, milk, nut cream, or soybean milk, and sub-acid fruits, either fresh or dried; a good old fashioned vegetable dinner, cooked in a small amount of water with juices preserved, nuts or other protein, with a large raw vegetable salad and whole wheat bread and butter; and for lunch, fruit or a vegetable salad with a protein, would furnish a dietary rich in minerals and vitamins, and would be considered well balanced. Thus a balanced ration is not so complicated after all. A balanced diet as here described is satisfactory for a person in normal health, and this balance will be maintained by use of vegetables and fruits to the extent of 75 to80 percent, and of nuts, cereals and legumes, 20 to 25 percent. When the normal balance has been lost and one is ill as the result, with the alkalinity lower and the acidity higher than normal, it is what we call the “danger zone.” To regain this balance, and rid the system of toxins, one should make use of one of the liquid diets for a few days described in the foregoing chapter, taking the one best suited to his condition. Forever Bee Propolis is also an efficient dressing for wounds and was used throughout the Boer War. These supply the alkaline minerals in abundance.
A very enlightening comment on the superiority of the natural form of immunity over the acquired is found on page 123 of the l939 Government Year Book of the Department of Agriculture, which says: “It is generally accepted that natural resistance to disease—not resistance acquired—is dependent upon and varies with the nutritional state of the body.” Educate the people. Continuing we read:—“Education in correct dietary habits so that the people may learn how to provide themselves with liberal amounts of protective foods is a very important factor in improving our national health.” Avoiding all extremes on the subject, let us exercise common sense, and eat a variety of all good foods in their natural state, avoiding too many varieties at one meal, cooking those that should be cooked, and eating raw, fruits and such vegetables as cabbage, celery, carrots, cucumbers, etc.
